Minutes from a meeting of Cropthorne Parish Council held on Monday September 4th 2017 in the Village Hall at 7pm

St. Richards Hospice –A presentation was made raising awareness to the Hospice and the services available to the community. It was agreed that to reach the wide community a notice would be placed in the Five Alive.

  1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes from previous meetings were approved and signed – proposed Cllr Clive, seconded Cllr Kelly – all in favour

PARISHIONERS QUESTION TIME:

  • Concerns raised over the speed of traffic since the recent re-surfacing in Main Street
  • Increased traffic
  • Lack of footway in Neigh Lane

The parish council reported that all of the above could be less of an issue once the village gates and speed signs are installed. The clerk would arrange for speed checks to be carried out.

  1. PLANNING:

a) 16/00209 8 Evergreen, Main Road – Awaiting additional information from WDC

b) APPEAL – Residential Development of 4 x 4-bedroom dwellings with detached garages @ Greenacres, Brook Lane – Granted on appeal, since meeting

c) 17/01452 – Elml Cottage, Kennel Bank – removal of stud partition wall – no objections raised

Miscellaneous Planning Concerns: –

(i) Stricklands – Living accommodation issues – with enforcement team to organise a site visit

(ii) Severn Acres – second access – With enforcement officer

(iii) Kimberleys Land – WDC Enforcements had written to the new owners

Nothing further to report on the above Enforcement Issues

  1. VILLAGE HALL – Cllr King reported the booking clerk was now a paid position. Thanks were made to Cllr Smythe for assistance on some repairs to play equipment. Tickets were available for the quiz night on 23rd September.
  1. COUNTY COUNCILLORS REPORT – This had been circulated to Cllrs and is available from the clerk
  2. MATTERS ARISING:
  3. Lengthsman asked to check speed sign batteries, and to attend to the hand rail at The Sheppey

2017/17

  1. New Home Bonus – Approx. £21,000 available to be spend on a LARGE community project.
  2. Speeding – B4084 – WDC had initially rejected the village gates element of the speed project, but this has now been approved. CC have agreed to finance the ‘dragons teeth’ but we are still waiting to reach an agreement on the posts for the solar powered speed signs
  3. Parish Councils Chairmans Meeting – A meeting to be organised asap
  4. FINANCE
  5. Approval of payments made/to be made since last meeting, as listed below – All councillors approved
  1. External Audit had been successfully carried out with no areas of concern
  2. Youth Bus – the clerk advised that visits to Cropthorne could be limited if no contribution to funds are received by WDC. The bus relied on donations for funding. It was suggested we ask the Walkabout if they would like to contribute. It is increasingly popular with children.
