Minutes from a meeting of Cropthorne Parish Council held on Monday March 7th in the Village Hall at 7pm

  1. APOLOGIES were received from Councillors J King and M West and District Councillor M English
  2. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST – Councillor L Stoodley – Village Hall Matters
  3. MINUTES from the previous meeting were approved – proposed Councillor Clive, seconded Councillor Furlong

PUBLIC QUESTION TIME/PARTICIPATION – Issues raised by members of the public were:

  • Parking in Lower Croft – The chairman advised he would speak to the head of Cropthorne First School, requesting that parents avoid parking their vehicles there
  • Parking in Main Street, near the junction with Middle Lane – pulling out of Middle Lane safely is extremely with the ever increasing problems with cars being parked near the junction. One resident had been advised by the police to take it up with the parish council. The clerk would contact the local police officer for the area for their advice
  • Wychavon District Council proposals to increase the number of pitches at Severn Acres and Evergreen by 6 pitches. It was proposed that members of the parish council attend the consultation meeting on 17th April, followed by a meeting with the parish council and residents to formulate a response
  1. PLANNING :
  • W/15/03103/03105 – Court Thatch, Neigh Lane – approved by WDC
  • W/15/03134 & 03135 –Avonvale House, Kennel Bank, Cropthorne – proposed door replacing window and proposed dormer replacing roof light – approved by WDC
  • W/15/03147 – Land North of Blacksmiths Lane – Erection of 4 detached bungalows and access drive from Blacksmiths Lane – the parish council objected to this application and their comments would be forwarded to WDC

W/15/02974 – New Inn, Main Road – Proposed single storey extension to enlarge dining /function area; pitched roof over existing store and wc’s to replace existing part pitched; formalise parking to front of property by creating boundary and stopping up highway – there were no objections to this application

Miscellaneous Planning Concerns: –

  1. Mobile home & hardstanding at The Orchard, Smokey lane – Planning contravention served
  2. Access at Severn Acres – The second access at the site was still in use. The clerk was asked to notify WDC enforcements

  1. VILLAGE HALL
  • A quote is being sourced for sound dampening in the village hall
  • Theft of the small mower had been reported to the police and the insurance company.
  1. COUNTY COUNCILLORS REPORT – Report received and circulated.
  2. DISTRICT COUNCILLORS REPORT – Nothing to report.
  3. MATTERS ARISING :
  4. Crime in Cropthorne – Awaiting distribution.
  5. Lengthsman – The clerk would ask the lengthsman to attend to overgrown verges in Brook Lane, thus making the pavement quite narrow in places. Also the speed sign needs looking at as it is failing to light up
  6. Baldwins Bank – Two quotes had been received with another two still awaited. Concerns were raised by some parishioners that the suggestions put forward so far were excessive. This would be reviewed in detail once the additional quotes had been received.

10. TRAVELLER SITE ALLOCATIONS – Discussed in Public Question time

  1. FINANCE
  2. Bank statements/reconciliation were made available to the Parish Council. Accounts had been forwarded to the parish council and were available at the meeting. No issues raised. Proposed Chairman, seconded councillor Stoodley.
  3. CORRESPONDENCE and emails had been circulated/forwarded to all Councillors either by email or hard copy for Councillor West
