Minutes from a meeting of Cropthorne Parish Council held on Monday May 23rd in the Village Hall at 7pm

ELECTION OF OFFICERS – Councillor B Annis was nominated for the office of Chair, proposed Councillor King, seconded Councillor Clive. Councillor Smythe was nominated for the office of Vice Chair, proposed Councillor Annis, seconded Councillor West.

- DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST – Councillor J King – Village Hall Matters
- PLANNING :
- W/15/02974 – New Inn, Main Road – Proposed single storey extension to enlarge dining /function area; pitched roof over existing store and wc’s to replace existing part pitched; formalise parking to front of property by creating boundary and stopping up highway – approved by WDC
Miscellaneous Planning Concerns: –
- Mobile home & hardstanding at The Orchard, Smokey lane – Planning contravention served
- Stricklands – Living accommodation issues – with enforcement team
- Severn Acres – second access – with enforcement team
- VILLAGE HALL – Quotes had been sought for the sound proofing system in the village hall
- MATTERS ARISING :
- Smart Water – Thanks were made to Councillor Smythe and Carol Clive for their help with the distribution. There were still a number of kits to be distributed and another date is to be arranged
- Lengthsman – No Issues
- Baldwins Bank – Nothing to add at this stage
- New Homes Bonus – In addition to the sound proofing system for the village hall, it was agreed that Councillor Smythe re-open discussions with the landowner opposite the village hall, with a view to the parish council securing land for additional car parking and allotments for rental by residents. It was also agreed that the parish council try and negotiate the purchase of existing allotments in Cropthorne.
- Traveller consultation – Awaiting decision. The chair advised that a planning advisor had offered his services should the outcome not be favourable. There would most certainly be cost implications. It may be a case that the parish council seek financial support from residents if they wanted to challenge any decision made by WDC
7. COUNCILLOR DELEGATION – It was agreed that a sub-committee be organised to review finances.
Councillor King volunteered her services. To discuss with other councillors at the next meeting

- HGV LORRIES, MAIN ROAD – Concerns had been raised that lorries were turning in the lay-by next to the New Inn, causing damage to the verge and serious highway safety issues. The clerk would contact CC to see if the verge could be removed completely making it easier for large vehicles to manoeuvre.
- ANY OTHER BUSINESS
- Councillor West had been in contact with Councillor Eyre and Rooftops Housing with a view to organising flower tubs at Lower Croft. Further discussion at the next full parish council meeting
- Residents present asked for more information with regard to the scheduled road closure of Main Street for drainage repairs. The clerk would seek clarification from CC on this
- It suggested that the distance between the mobile homes at the caravan park in Field Barn Lane was too small considering that some of them were classed as permanent residences. It is thought there is different legislation for permanent and holiday lets. The clerk would seek advice on this
- The clerk was asked to chase CC with regard an overhanging hedge issue. There have been ongoing issues with regard responsibility
